Today’s Millinery – Little Blue

Here is a little hat waiting to perch a top the right woman’s head.

The deep blue straw plait has been braided for the edge of the narrow shaped brim. It is trimmed lightly with vintage velvet and organdy flowers that remind me of wild flowers. The inside is lined and cotton sateen ties are added.

Find this hat in my Etsy shop.

Thisnis one of those rare times I will try to take a photo of me wearing a hat. I want people to see how it is worn.

  1. I love your hats! I don’t dress in historical costumes, but I do love history. I belong to a mystery writers group that has a Poison Tea party every year during which many of us wear fancy hats. I am never sure where to put feathers or flowers or even veils. I have bought some vintage hats at thrift stores and just try to embellish where they have already been embellished or replace worn embellishments. Your dedication to historical accuracy is commendable. Thanks for your posts! I always enjoy them, even if I don’t comment on every one of them.

  2. Thank you, Liz.
I find the idea of Poison Tea party thrilling. What fun.
It is nice to know you are giving vintage hats a new life. Tacking new trims with just a few stitches lets you change them too.
    Thank you for the compliments.
