Community Cast Video Day 29

Today’s video introduces a pin pocket project.

Post video note: In the video I said I would use batting. After cutting all the pieces, I decided this would be too bulky for my fulled wool. My new recommendation is to Not us batting with medium weight or fulled wool. Batting may be desired with tropical weight wool.

Materials to gather:

Silk – cut to 9″×4.5″ (or a pretty cotton, a floral stripe would be great.
Wool – cut to 9″×4.5″
Optional – thin batting – cut to 9″×4.5″
50 inches of 1/2″ to 5/8″ to 3/4″ wide ribbon
Embroidery floss

*You can adjust measurements to suit your needs and fabric. Remember to adjust the size of all layers and the length of the ribbon.

Community Cast Video Day 28

Today’s video is mostly chat covering one of Clara’s favorite things, two things I use for my hands and wrists, tips on how to shrink my ballon style bag to doll size, and an introduction to Don’t Paint the Cat, one of my other blogs.

Wow. This wraps up 4 weeks of videos. These four weeks are bit of a fog for me. (I just deleted a bunch of sad reality stuff.)

Today’s video shows how to make a spool holder.

Original spool holders of this style:

Materials:

1 sheet of pasteboard (8.5”x11”)
S
ilk pieces – 2 approx 8.5”x11”
Matching wooden spools of thread (number based on shape selected.)
Length of 1/4″ to ½” wide silk ribbon – Approx ½ yard
A sharp awl and a bodkin
Long straight pins (optional)
