I find both fruit/vegetable pin cushions and make-do pin cushions fascinating and beautiful. Put them together, and I think the result is lovely.
Throughout the nineteenth, as well as the eighteenth, century women rescued the broken bases of candlesticks, goblets and it turns out, even lamps by making them into pin cushions. Some, in my opinion, are functionally sized either for the work table or dressing table, while others seem rather ornamental.
I made my strawberries of cotton velvet, stuffed with wool a top wooden stands, and beaded with antique clear glass beads that are silvery at the centers. They stand 5″ tall.
