Fancy Weave Bonnet

This is a millinery experiment I’ve been working on over the past year or so. It has been slow going in between other millinery pieces.

I want a way to replicate the beautiful open weave and crochet straw bonnets of the era. I want to stick to period techn2as much as possible of course.

I am middling on my satisfaction scale with this. I like the shape. I dislike the amount of stitching needed and how visable that is. I am drawn on the material. I was able to hand sew it. I’ve found not all straw capelines or hoods can be sewn. I am not fond of draping from a capeline. It just isn’t as satisfying as working with plait for me.

No, this one will not be for sale.
